DUPLICATE & NEAR-DUPLICATE ANALYSIS
We identify exact duplicate files through cryptographic hash values when available and examine potential near-duplicates, resized copies, converted files, thumbnails, previews, and repeated exports. This helps distinguish the total number of listed items from the number of unique media files.
FILE LOCATION, METADATA & DIGITAL CONTEXT
When included in the engagement, AMR examines file paths, timestamps, storage locations, user profiles, application data, cache or thumbnail artifacts, and other technical context that may affect how a file should be understood. Findings are limited to what can be supported by the available evidence.

We compare reported classifications and counts with file metadata, storage locations, extraction outputs, hash information, and examiner documentation. The purpose is to identify consistencies, discrepancies, unsupported assumptions, and questions requiring additional evidence.
WHAT AN INDEPENDENT REVIEW MAY CLARIFY
An independent review may confirm prior findings, identify necessary corrections, or reveal limitations that were not clearly explained in the original forensic report.

A report may contain a gross number of listed items that differs from the number of unique images or videos. AMR documents how totals were calculated and whether repeated entries or derivative files affect the reported number.

Files with identical cryptographic hashes can generally be identified as exact duplicates. Other files may be visually similar but resized, converted, cropped, recompressed, or otherwise modified, requiring separate analysis.

A thumbnail, preview, temporary file, or cache entry may not have the same technical characteristics as a full media file. AMR examines how these items were created, stored, and counted when that information is relevant to the engagement.
